A digital Norwegian mentor: practise with AI and a clear plan

Publisher: NorskMentor. Original practice material; not an official test or level assessment.

A digital Norwegian mentor can provide tasks and feedback while you practise independently. It works best with a concrete action, such as writing a message or explaining a problem. NorskMentor combines language tasks and AI support; teacher guidance is a separate arrangement.

Start with something you actually need to say

Choose a situation from your day: asking for help, arranging a time or explaining a delay. Write a short answer without help first, giving yourself a starting point to compare against the guidance.

En beskjed du kan øve på

Situasjon: Du blir forsinket til en avtale fordi bussen ikke kommer. Forklar hva som skjer, og foreslå en løsning.

Første svar: Hei! Bussen er forsinket. Jeg kommer omtrent tjue minutter senere. Kan vi begynne litt senere, eller passer det bedre i morgen?

Ask for one explanation at a time

Check whether your answer solves the task before making every sentence more advanced. Choose one specific improvement: verb placement, an imprecise word or a missing reason. Then rewrite in your own words.

AI guidance can be wrong or misunderstand your intended meaning. If a correction seems odd, compare it with a dictionary, grammar explanation or your teacher’s assessment. Do not treat a suggested level as an official result.

Turn writing into speaking practice

Put away the text and explain the same situation aloud. Record a short answer to check whether the message is clear. Listen for one thing, such as long pauses or a clear time reference, then repeat. This is independent practice; conversations with other people also matter for practising responses.

When is a teacher the right next step?

A teacher can help when you need an explanation adapted to your background, a professional assessment or ongoing support. Schools and organisations can use NorskMentor in a teacher’s assignment and submission workflow. Establish what your arrangement includes.
