A2 · Short reading exercise

En travel tirsdag

Mina har nettopp flyttet til en ny by. Hun jobber på en kafé fra mandag til fredag. På tirsdager går hun på norskkurs etter jobb.

Neste tirsdag skal Mina jobbe til klokka seks. Kurset begynner halv seks. Hun skriver til læreren og spør om hun kan komme litt senere.

Grammar · V2

Where does the verb go?

Which sentence has the correct word order?

One topic. Two ways to answer.

See how a clear opinion develops with a counterpoint and a condition.

Bør flere reise kollektivt til jobb? Begrunn svaret ditt.

B1 style · A clear opinion

Jeg synes flere bør ta bussen til jobb. Det er bra for miljøet, og det blir færre biler på veien. Men bussen må gå ofte, slik at folk kommer fram i tide.

A clear opinion, familiar vocabulary and straightforward reasons. «Men» introduces a practical limitation.

B2 style · A nuanced argument

Selv om bilen gir større fleksibilitet, mener jeg at flere bør velge kollektivtransport til jobb. Det kan redusere både utslipp og kø. For at dette skal være et realistisk alternativ, må imidlertid tilbudet være pålitelig, også utenfor de største byene.

«Selv om» acknowledges the other side. «For at» adds a condition, while «imidlertid» connects the argument to a limitation.

Illustrative extracts, not complete exam answers or assessed CEFR results. A level assessment needs a full response and several criteria.

Hva heter du?
Show answer and explanation

Jeg heter Sara.

The question asks your name. «Jeg heter Sara» answers directly. The other answers describe where you live or what you do.

Biblioteket åpner klokka ni. Når kan du gå inn?
Show answer and explanation

Klokka ni.

«Åpner klokka ni» means you can enter from 9 o’clock. The text does not say the library is only open in the evening.

Hei! Jeg er hos legen og kommer en halvtime senere. Kan du begynne uten meg? Hva ber personen om?
Show answer and explanation

At de andre starter før personen kommer.

«Begynne uten meg» asks the others to start before the person arrives. Being late is not the same as cancelling the meeting.

Velg setningen som forklarer hvorfor du blir hjemme.
Show answer and explanation

Jeg blir hjemme fordi jeg er syk.

«Fordi» connects the action to a reason. «Jeg er syk» explains why the person stays home.

Velg riktig ordstilling etter «I dag».
Show answer and explanation

I dag jobber jeg hjemme.

«I dag» is the first sentence element. The finite verb «jobber» is second, before the subject «jeg».

Velg riktig setning.
Show answer and explanation

Etter den lange arbeidsdagen tar Mina bussen hjem.

The whole phrase «Etter den lange arbeidsdagen» is one element even though it contains several words. «Tar» therefore follows the entire phrase.

Hvilken setning har riktig plassering av «ikke» i leddsetningen?
Show answer and explanation

Jeg vet at hun ikke kommer i dag.

After «at», the subject «hun» comes before «ikke» and the verb «kommer». This subordinate clause does not follow the pattern of a main clause beginning with «I dag».

I går ___ jeg en søknad.
Show answer and explanation

skrev

«I går» identifies a finished time in the past. The past tense «skrev» fits here.

Jeg ___ i butikk før, så jeg kjenner arbeidsoppgavene.
Show answer and explanation

har jobbet

The experience matters now, without a specified finished past time. «Har jobbet» expresses that experience.

Hun ___ her siden mandag, og hun er fortsatt her.
Show answer and explanation

har vært

«Siden mandag» and «fortsatt her» connect the situation to the present. «Har vært» fits this context.
